Why did she leave so suddenly after we were so close?

Author

I met this woman over a year ago and from the beginning she felt incredible. She was funny beautiful kind caring and genuinely interested in the same things I was. She was an introvert like me and I felt like I had found someone who truly understood me. She felt real. We would video chat often spend hours talking and she never once asked me for anything financially or materially.
I always told her If something is bothering you you can tell me. We’ll figure it out together as a team.
We were long distance but we had plans for a future together. Moving west had always been her dream and we talked about making that happen. She was stressed about the change but she always reassured me that everything would work out and that I was the only person she wanted to be with.
So I started figuring out the logistics even though it was overwhelming for me too. I already struggled with depression and anxiety but I wanted to make the process as smooth as possible for her. I knew it wouldn’t be easy but I was willing to do whatever I could.
Then one day she begged me to never leave her and promised that she wanted us to be together forever. That was exactly how I felt too. I told her “I plan to be yours forever.”
Three days later she told me she wanted to end the relationship.
It was so sudden and so cold. There were no tears no hesitation no emotion in her voice. She said moving would be too difficult and that she didn’t think I was worth the struggle. I understand that big life changes can be scary but what broke me was that we never even got the chance to try. We never even had a visit.
I completely shattered.
Maybe a year and a half doesn’t seem like a lifetime to some people but we talked every single night for hours. She knew everything about me and I thought I knew everything about her. She was the person I went to during my hardest moments and she was there for me. But after the breakup it felt like I became a stranger overnight.
She told me she wouldn’t block me and that I could still text her but she was already blocking me on some platforms and ignoring my questions. I couldn’t understand how someone who once cared so much could suddenly become so distant.
She told me I didn’t do anything wrong but she also said I had raised her standards. I always reminded her that she deserved the world and that she was worthy of love and happiness. She said I made her expect more and now I somehow fell below those expectations.
I know I wasn’t perfect and neither was she. But I’m still struggling to understand how I went from feeling like her one and only person to feeling like I was nothing but a burden.
She has blocked me everywhere and even after more than a month I’m still lost. I spent so long apologizing and wondering what I could have done differently. I felt like I wasn’t enough.
Part of me wants answers. Part of me wants to tell her that maybe she needs to talk to someone and work through what happened. The people I’ve opened up to have said her actions were hurtful and that it felt like she used me to escape loneliness before walking away.
I don’t know what to believe anymore.
My mind feels foggy. I feel numb. I feel like a completely different person than I was before this happened.
I still want to ask questions. I still want closure. But I also know I can’t force someone to talk to me when they’ve made it clear they don’t want contact.
I’m just lost and honestly it hurts more than I know how to explain.

Your story touched me. I'm really sorry you're going through this. I understand why you have questions maybe you feel like the reason why she intiated the break up was not valid enough. You also mentioned that she has anxiety and you also do but you tried. That's how mine ended when two people with the same personalities meet it may seem like they're are compatible but the problem starts once you guys get to know each other we both were introverts and had anxiety but the guy was much better than me. I hope you find healing and stop questioning yourself she will reach out if she really loves you. Don't be hard on yourself please and yes you can't gorce someone who doesn't want to talk to you.

An online relationship is as real as an in person one, but maybe you guys should have met in person before making plans to move? It would have been an overwhelming decision for her. its a tricky one.
