Why did he leave if he tried so hard?

Author

I have relationship OCD and it was really hard for my ex boyfriend to deal with it. But he promised so many times that he will never leave me, even the day before the breakup. But a few days ago he came to my house and said he can't do it anymore and he tried as hard as he could. And know I can't move on because he didn't do anything wrong right? He just coulnd do it because it was hard.
I'm trying to convince myself that he won't leave if he truly loved me....

someone can love you and still reach a point where they don’t have the strength to keep going. that didn’t make the love fake, it just hurt like hell to accept.

you think about him leaving, is the hardest part losing him or the thought that it means you weren’t “enough” for him?

i’ve been the person who kept replaying every conversation after a breakup, trying to find the one thing i could’ve changed. it’s such a painful place when someone leaves and you can’t even be angry at them

That is most probably a lie he wants you to believe, ask yourself and be honest about it!Did he really try? If he really wanted to try, he would have recommended therapy and be on your side while you heal! That is what people who care about the relationship do, if they don't there are so many reasons to break up!

Forget about it, if you can afford go to therapy! Get your OCD fixed! Don't give him much importance!

I have therapy, medicines, I was really jealous and he said it's okay but it was to much for him, he was really tired but still I'm sad that he was even ABLE to leave

I understand this. I also have OCD so it led me to be picky and a need for perfection in a lot of things. So far as if someone were to touch a certain product, I physically could not touch them or I felt like I had done something wrong. Over the past few months what helped me was to forcefully stop my perfectionist habits and it ultimately quieted my intrusive thoughts. You got this and you will get through it.
