we have been on and off for almost four years. we are off yet again. I am trying to stay in no contact but some of me things are at his place should I just go get my stuff or just give it time like a few weeks. I would not even bother but some of my stuff is rather expensive

i left things at my ex's place because i wasn't ready to see him, but every item became an excuse to think about reaching out again
i'd get the expensive stuff back, but keep it as brief and practical as possible. i found it helped to treat it like picking up a package, not reopening the relationship.
do you think seeing him right now would pull you back into the cycle, or could you handle a quick pickup without getting pulled in?

If some of your belongings are expensive or important to you, I’d go get them sooner rather than later. You don’t have to turn it into a conversation or reopen anything between you two. You can arrange a quick pickup, bring someone with you if that makes you feel more comfortable, and leave. Don't get stuck again in the loop you're trying to break out of.
