so friday we bumped into eachother at the bar. i was with my friends and i heard him say my name. i turned around and he was there, my heart literally stopped. it felt like a horror movie and he was so beautiful. he’s together with someone else but we’ve had an affair for almost a year and ”broke up” two months ago and had no contact for 20 days, our longest streak. me and my friends left the bar, and immediately he texted me that he had told his best friend about me and what has been going on.
so there we were. i got my hopes up and he asked if we could meet sunday. i met him and he started sugar talking, telling me he would have left his wife a long time ago if it wasn’t for his children. that he loves me, thinks about me all the time and that he can’t live without me. but that he would have to wait a year until he could leave his wife due to circumstances. he wanted to know how i felt about him. i felt humiliated because i love him so deeply and just wish that he would be mine. i know that i can’t keep waiting for him like this, and that my heart is broken. i started to cry and have felt horrible. i felt like i was just about to maybe start to live my life again, until we bumped into eachother that night. i feel horrible. all of my friends tell me that i have to get over him but i just can’t. i love him so so much but at the same time i know he can’t give me anything right now and that i have to move on.

i had to stop listening to what my ex said he'd do someday and start looking at what he was actually able to give me right then. loving someone deeply doesn't make waiting for them any less painful.
i know i have to do the same. but it’s really, really hard
when he told you he'd leave his wife in a year, did any part of you feel relieved, or did it mostly make you scared you'd spend another year waiting for something that might never happen?
it mostly made me scared and anxious. I don’t want to wait another year just to get my heart even more broken than it already is
that awful feeling when you're finally getting a little distance and then one accidental run-in pulls the whole wound open again. hearing him say all those things when you still love him must've wrecked you.
yes, it really wrecked me
your friends are right, you need to get over him. There will always be an excuse as to why he hasn't left his wife. Don't waste your life waiting on a maybe. Allow yourself to be open to someone who will fully commit to you
Thank you
I’m sorry. You don’t deserve to be anyone’s secret, for one. You will find your strength again.
Thank you, i hope that i will someday
