So little backstory I knew this guy most of my life from like when I was a toddler however we didn't get close until we turned 14 and he was very flirty with me i liked him as a friend and only as that, we had quite a few struggles throughout the 2 years of being friends (2023 - 2025) I wont go into too much detail but ill just say he ruined my perspective of most men... Anyways fast forward to yesterday we haven't been in contact for 600 days but i then talk to an old friend who i saw in my college who tells me "(his name) wants to message you to apologise for what happened" and obviously when I get told that I was shocked I wasnt freaked out or scared it was just pure shock because I wasnt expecting it. About half an hour later I get a message from him with an apology ofc I respect the apology but it obviously won't take away what happened. We then messaged here and there throughout the day and he suggested for us to meet up on Saturday as he'll be in the village for a few hours, I want to go yk to catch up with him see what he's up to now etc he has promised he wouldn't hurt me or anything like that again.. I will admit I do miss him and I do miss the friendship we had a lot so maybe I should meet up with him. I'll still think about it though because I'm not 100% sure.

i keep coming back to the fact that you’re still only 600 days into no contact being broken. do you actually feel ready to see him, or do you mostly miss the friendship you had before everything went wrong?
i think I mostly miss the friendship we had before things went wrong... part of me wants to give him a chance but I really dont know
i’d be careful with this one, honestly. i’ve learned that an apology can be genuine and i can still need distance, especially when someone has already changed how safe i feel around people.
i’ve had someone from my past come back after a long silence with an apology, and even when i appreciated it, it didn’t erase everything that happened. missing the friendship can make that door feel really tempting again
