Why planning a trip after a breakup is the best idea ever

Author

So, it started out with an emotional breakdown because of the breakup. After I got back on the healing horse, I figured...Why not plan a trip?

I want my spark back more than anything. I don't want to drown in this sorrow forever...I want the pain to END. And I realized...I hadn't taken a trip since the Big Sick of 2020. My ex said he loves traveling, but he's too scared to get on a plane. 😐🙄

I found a hotel, figured out where to eat, crunched the entertainment numbers, checked the weather, got directions...

The Family Vacations are SO BACK because of me!!!

And I might be batshit crazy. I might be out of my fucking mind. But oh my GOD I am EXCITED!!!

I hope this is me getting my spark back...🥺

i’ve been there, that weird mix of “am i actually okay?” and “holy shit, i’m excited” after heartbreak. i say go with the excitement and let yourself be a little batshit crazy about it, you deserve to have something to look forward to again.

i’m curious, when you picture yourself on that trip, what’s the one thing you’re most excited to do without your ex there?

Going to a theme park. He didn't like going on rides, so I'm reclaiming that. I hope this trip is the reset I need to get my life moving again.

planning my first trip after a breakup and feeling almost guilty for being excited again, like i was leaving the sadness behind too fast. turns out i just needed something that felt like mine again.
