I’m sorry, I know we probably don’t want to see each other right now and that we’re giving each other space, but when you’re free one day, could we please meet at a Westpac bank to close our joint account?
For the rent this week, you can just pay half ($300), and I’ll cover the other half, so you have some for yourself. I’ll also work on sending an email to the property manager to let them know you’ve moved out, so you don’t have to keep paying rent and you can use it to pay for your current place.
As for our joint application, I don't mind covering the fortnightly payments. I think those are the main practical things we need to take care of, so we can get everything sorted and hopefully both have the peace and space we need to fully heal.

the text is fine and covers the logistics, but stop offering to cover extra money or do him favors to soften the blow.
I'm covering the other half of the rent, because he doesn't live in the house anymore, and that way he has some money to pay for his new place or for food, so he doesn't text me because he needs money. It doesn't matter anyways, because there was no reply from him, which I kind of expected.
that gut punch of typing out practical, adult stuff when your heart is breaking is so awful. i remember sitting on my living room floor drafting a text to my ex about breaking our lease, making sure my tone was super polite and calm while i was silently crying my eyes out. you are taking on so much of the emotional labor and financial burden here just to keep the peace.
Aww, that would've been so hard 😔😢
All that to not get a reply, which I kind of expected.
I sent the text and put away everything that reminds me of him and the memories we made - the photos, albums, plushies, teddies, clothes, and all the little things that hold pieces of our time together.
I cried so much while doing it. Some things brought back so many memories, and it was honestly harder than I expected. But I knew I needed to put them away for now. Not because those memories don't matter, but because I need some space to heal and learn how to move forward.
One day at a time 😢🤍
you're really strong, make sure to talk to people you trust and who love you. you'll find people to make lots of treasured memories with to replace the ones you had to put away.
This is extremely kind and ok to send because you are trying to sort out logistics. I definitely wouldn't start it with "I'm sorry" as you have nothing to apologise for
Thank you! I'll remove that. I just really want to get these things out of the way, so neither of us have to keep breaking non contact.
