he did everything to assure me that he would never leave when i did not even need assurance
in the end he left
i realised he was the one that needed that assurance he gave to me the most. i didnt give it to him because i thought he wanted me to stay thats why he was giving me assurance

when he kept giving you that reassurance back then, did it ever feel a little off to you or did it only make sense after he left?
i’ve learned that when someone keeps repeating those promises, sometimes it’s more about calming their own fear than ours.

my ex used to swear up and down he’d never leave too, said it constantly. turns out he was the one scared the whole time and i didn’t see it until he walked out. that realization stings like hell.
