Why i hate learning life lessons from heartbreak

Author

I hate to think that all this pain and sadness was to teach me some life lesson that I couldn't just learn on my own,but I am coming to the realization that as much as this relationship hurt me it also helped me. it showed me not to be afraid to say no to people to keep my boundaries to walk away at the first red flag and to keep myself grounded instead of getting swept away in the romance of the relationship to believe their actions not their words and to hold them to it and if they fall short move on. I was recently talking to a new guy who came back into my life after a month of no speaking he said all the right things made me feel special but getting to know each other better I realized we wanted to different things he wanted more of a non commitment and I wanted the opposite before I would of fallen for the words and when their true intentions came out I would settle for whatever they gave me just to be in a relationship and then end up heartbroken.and im proud of that.

i used to tell myself every relationship had to work if i just loved harder. now i walk away a lot sooner, and i honestly sleep better because of it. i'm proud of you for seeing the mismatch before it became another heartbreak.

i know how hard it is to choose your own needs after you've spent so long settling. what helped me was reminding myself that someone saying the right things means nothing if their life can't meet me there.

I have been reading some of your posts.I think you are a very wise person and this relationship you were in has made you grow up too fast and have to be too strong to soon. I can tell you were deeply hurt bc you say all the things that I feel. I just got out of 8 years of always looking over my shoulder not trusting trying to find answers to questions I didn't really want to know but already secretly did. love is great when its good but its awfully messy in the end. I look at your words for inspiration BTW so thank you

when he came back after that month, did you already have a feeling he wasn't looking for the same kind of relationship, or did it only become clear once you started talking again?

Also you might just not be ready. It takes me time to be able to open my heart. even if I think its what I want. Ive been really trying to look for positives, but honestly. It still really hurts and really sucks.

That's great! You're seeing the bs before the plane takes off. I heard someone somewhere say intuition is a skill that can be practiced. They were right. There's just so much noise in the world weve become disconnected from our gut feelings sometimes

100% girl, be proud of yourself❤️ breakups really strengthens our boundaries and makes it easier for us not to fall for the initial "honeymoon" stage, it makes us see through the infatuation and realize they aren't the one. saves us so much more heartbreak in the future and makes us more aware
