Why i chose 3 months of no contact after my breakup

Author

It’s officially day 90, and our 3 months are up.
I’m petrified.
When he broke up with me, he was very apologetic. He hinted towards wanting something again in the future, and didn’t want to fully shut the door on our relationship.
I knew that I wouldn’t be able to move forward unless we fully cut ties while I had time to process the breakup, so I asked for 3 months of no contact. I do not regret it one bit, and am extremely proud of myself for setting that boundary and prioritizing my emotional needs. I used to get sooo hung up on guys to the point where it was just super unhealthy. I’d compare it to Leslie Knope and Mark Brandanowits level of bad. If you’ve seen Parks and Rec, you understand exactly where I’m coming from (also sidenote, be my friend).
But now that our official no contact period is ending, im petrified.
I think I still have feelings for him, and I am eventually going to tell him when I feel secure. I was never honest about how I felt about him while we were going out, and I’d like to get it off my chest at least once.
But for now, I’m scared to lose this 3 month security blanket. I’m scared to confront all this. I’m scared to potentially confront him.
I’m just scared.
