Honestly do you think that you can change him?
I've tried so hard to make him own up to me in front of his friends and the whole school. He said he feels uncomfortable doing anything with me in front of his friends.
I am so scared that he will be angry because I plan to break up with him for this reason. I am also scared of ruining our earlier friendship.
I've already waited so long but nothing changes.
Should I break up with him or try talking to him one more time.

it is more about losing the comfort of the friendship.
I once heard that when friends become lovers, they can't be friends again and this scares me.
if you’ve already waited and talked and it’s still the same, that’s your answer. people don’t suddenly become proud to claim you because you ask one more time. sometimes the only thing that changes them is losing you but by then, it’s not your problem anymore.
my ex used to act like i didn’t exist around his friends too. said he was just private but it always made me feel small. i kept hoping he’d change once he realized how much it hurt me, but he never did. it’s such a lonely place to be in a relationship where you’re hidden.
