when i couldn’t make sense of it, i stopped trying to understand their behavior and focused on how it made me feel. it didn’t fix anything but it helped me stop blaming myself so much.

i remember looking at my ex like “i gave you everything, why were you so cold?” that confusion stays in your chest for a while. i’m sorry you’re feeling that kind of hurt right now
