he broke up with me on the phone after years of treating me poorly.... we talked for months about getting him a cat so he could be with it when he came back from work so he felt happy as I couldn't be there always as I'm working in my portfolio as a 3d artist.

i just want to say this part clearly. you’re not dirty. you were attached, hoping, trying to stay close.
i’ve been there. my ex treated me poorly, then ended it casually, and i still showed up for him physically at the end. the shame after is REAL. i felt used too
Trust me he will come back, they always come back. After breaking up they pretend they forget and try to get busy but after all the busyness go away they miss you and expect you to forgive them. But please try to move on he is not the man you deserve. you deserve someone that appreciates you!
