Why returning his hoodies brought me relief

Author

He broke up with me 4 months ago, and i still have 2 of his hoodies and his perfume. We have been no contact since the breakup, altough there has been a drunk dial from my side but he didnt answer. Anyways now i sent him a text that I still have his hoodies and dont need them bc they have been sitting at the same chair untouched since the breakup. I asked if he wanted to pick them up or if i should mail them. Altough he told me to keep them when we broke up. And now i feel a sense of relief, i didnt get anxious when I sent him the text to pick them up. I feel so happy. I just need to get those hoodies out so i dont get remined of him every single day.

this might sound random but when you sent the message and felt that relief, did it feel like a tiny bit of your power came back? like you weren’t waiting on him anymore

Not random at all because thats what i also felt. I loved that i sent that last message, and its been a day and he has not answerd my message and that okay for me. The thing is when he broke up with me he didnt want me to reach out or try to meet him and so on, firstly very childish of a 21 year old to say, becuase what he wrote next in his breakup text was that he was going to contact me. And I dont want to keep sitting around and waiting like i have for the past months so im taking the power back and giving him an ultimatium on either picking them up or me sending them back to him. and i have alo decided that if he doesnt want them or text me back im going to donate them or sell the hoodies.

four months and those little things still sitting there, yeah i know that feeling. my ex’s hoodie stayed on the back of my chair forever too, i swear the smell alone could wreck my whole night. getting it out of the house felt like finally exhaling.
