Writing an unsent letter to my ex: day 92

Author

It’s been more than three months since I broke up with my ex-fiancé. It still hurts, but I’m okay. ^^

Today, I really feel like writing him a letter. I will write an unsent letter here instead.

Dear Josh,

I can’t deny that this breakup has been incredibly difficult for me. Of course, I loved you deeply. You once told me that, for you, the breakup was clean and painless. But somehow, that doesn’t hurt me as much as you might think. Maybe it’s because I’m the kind of person who loves deeply and gives my whole heart to someone I love.

Do you remember the first time we met? You tried to act like a cool, bad guy, which was honestly funny because that wasn’t who you really were. You also always tried to impress me. But looking back, I’ve realized that you have never changed. I saw how you kept trying hard to fit in with every new group of friends you met recently.

I was so disappointed that you chose them over me, especially when they associated with things like cheating, strip club invitations, and drinking with other women. How could you? How could you trade something as meaningful as our relationship for such temporary dopamine hits?

I was deeply disappointed and heartbroken. Just four months before our wedding, you were prioritizing those things over the relationship we had built together. Eventually, I realized that I could no longer trust the person you had become to be my life partner, the father of our future children, or my best friend for the rest of my life.

Don’t you ever get tired of constantly trying to impress other people? What kind of happiness do you think you’ll find among people like that?

standing four months away from my own wedding date when i realized my ex was choosing reckless, temporary highs over our entire future, and that specific flavor of heartbreak cuts right down to the bone
