So I started dating this guy who was studying to be a doctor. We've kicked it off quite early. Our first time being intimate he made me feel like a relationship wasn't what he wanted saying he couldn't fall in love unless he trust the person. Eventually we got into a relationship later on. Now we've been in a relationship for not so long and he speaks French and English too. I speak English only. I tried learning French for him, I'd buy him food, cook for him, visit him knowing it always lead to sex and accept to just stay by his place just because he had no money to go on a date even when I told him a date can just be a walk. I even started to look for clothes to buy for him. Anyways today is our anniversary and I saw he would just be hiding his phone around me. I saw my contact name stored as just the first letter of my name. Keep in mind he went out before and then told me some girl rejected his friend because she wanted him. He would constantly hide his phone around me and today I saw the name he stored. At first he was hesitant to show me but this time he eventually did after multiple times of him asking for my phone first. When I confronted him he said it was because the last time we argued he changed my name from babe to the first letter of my name. Forgot to mention that he had my name stored even when we were in a relationship and I confronted him and he changed it to babe. If I didn't ask him to change it to that I would've remained with just my name. Also earlier today we were watching a movie and there was a question that one character asked the next "do you love your girlfriend" and the character said yes and my bf also said yes. The character then asked the other character "do you plan to spend the rest of your life with her" and my bf side eyed me and never answered. Eventually he saw I was upset and after 30 mins decided to say he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. We had thoughts about marriage and he seemed hesitant when the conversation would come up. Should I just leave the relationship?

being with someone who made me feel like i had to keep proving i was worth choosing, and eventually i realized how exhausting it was to always be the one trying harder. you shouldn't have to beg for basic reassurance, especially on your anniversary.
Girl he doesn't have his own money? You don't need that. You are not the bank. Trust me, I had a similiar experience. Hes not stable financially. You both want different things. Just cut ties before you spend too much money on him
