Why today was so hard for me after the breakup

i had to remind myself that missing the family i had with my ex didn’t mean i needed to reach back into that life, i could love those memories and still let that chapter stay closed

i know you miss your old family, but do you think today hurts more because you miss her specifically, or because it reminds you of the whole life you thought you were going to have?

i got attached to my ex’s family too, and losing those little traditions hurt in a way i wasn’t ready for. birthdays were especially brutal because i missed people who weren’t even technically mine to miss anymore.
