what kept me from making those late night texts was handing my phone to a trusted friend the second we walked through the door. i told her under no circumstances was she to give it back to me until the morning, and it saved me from so much morning-after shame.
that fear is so real, going out when your heart is still bleeding is an absolute minefield. i remember getting drunk at a house party four months after my split, breaking down in the bathroom, and blowing up his phone until my best friend literally had to snatch my phone and Uber me home. please be gentle with yourself tonight if those urges creep up.
