Me and my ex had a lot of issues that led to us breaking up but I feel so hurt because when we broke up he said he still cared for me and loved me so much and he could never imagine himself with anyone else and that the thought hurt him. He said he was destroyed that we couldn’t be together anymore and if I ever need someone to talk to, I can talk to him. For a few days after we broke up he still texted me good morning and good night and checked in on me. Then he started not answering for days. Then we got to the point where he’d text me once a week asking how I am. we’d send maybe 2 or 3 texts back and forth. Then I found out he started dating a girl just a few days after we broke up, despite everything he said, and us being together for 2 years. I can’t imagine being with anyone else right now. (we’ve now been broken up for 2 months). And the part I’m really mad about is he’s dating the girl that he promised me was “just a friend” and “nothing was going on”. I know it’s not my place to be upset with who he’s dating anymore but now I wonder if he started liking her while he was with me or if something did happen between them or if that’s the real reason he broke up with me.

i’ve been there, my ex did the same soft exit while already halfway somewhere else and i kept replaying every “i love you” like it meant something solid
I found out the hard way those "just friends" are usually someone they actually connected with but are too embarrassed or too self centered to tell their partner about. so instead they go off with them and just leave you hurt.
im sorry for what you are going through but be strong it does get better.
hate to say it but yeah...it probably did and he was trying to let you down easy with all the cleiche shit people say. its not you...its me! bullshit
