it’s been almost a year since my ex broke up with me. we were together for four and a half years bought a house together went engagement ring shopping and talked about marriage kids and our future. he ended things n september 2025 just 11 days after we came back from a romantic week-long holiday.
since then we’ve had no contact. the house is sold all our shared bills are closed and even though he only lives about 30 minutes away we haven’t crossed paths. our lives are completely separate now. for a long time i kept waiting for him to come back and say he regretted leaving me but eventually i accepted that it was over and stopped expecting it.
now that time has passed and i’ve started dating again i’ve found myself having this weird fantasy that one day he’ll start dating someone else realise it doesn’t feel the same and eventually message me to say he still thinks about me and wants to see me. i think about it way more than i’d like to admit even though i’m seeing someone new who i genuinely really like.
is this normal? has anyone else experienced this? how do i stop waiting for a message i know i may never get? because i’m actually really happy with my life now. i think a part of me just always wanted him to fight for me realise how special i was and come back so i could finally feel like i meant that much to him.

You are too good for him, it's evil to drop you after your week long holiday. Just focus on yourself, dont worry about if hes dating someone new. You are worth more than this
