Why are 255 days of heartbreak still so heavy?

255 days.

When I look out the window, the first leaves are beginning to change their colors, quietly reminding me of how much time has passed.

Most days have become easier, but there are still those moments when it hurts just as much as it did in the beginning. Days when time feels like it has barely moved at all.

I keep wondering how much longer it will take. How many more days, seasons, and sunsets until it finally feels a little lighter?

i’ve learned that healing felt less like the pain disappearing and more like the painful days becoming less frequent. 255 days is a long time to carry someone in your heart, and you’re allowed to still have days where it hits hard.

i wonder if those moments feel the worst when you’re alone and quiet, or if they still catch you completely off guard during normal days?

It happens in the strangest moments. Sometimes when I’m alone, but still so often when I’m surrounded by the people I love, in moments that are supposed to be beautiful. And then, quietly, the thought slips in: How beautiful would this be if he were here? Somehow, those moments hurt even more than the ones when I’m alone.

counting the days after my breakup and feeling so frustrated when one random morning could still hurt exactly like the first week, even after so much time had passed.
