I didn't think it'd be this hard, but I kept comparing how happy I was when I was going back from college, thinking I'd spend summer with my friends and boyfriend, and how devastated I was returning after summer was over and everything had changed.
The train ride back home, I remembered how I spent it texting him about our summer plans. This time I was just looking out the window, spaced out.
I enter my dorm again and the first thing I see are the little drawings he'd give me, that I'd stick on the wall. They're still there. I'm not strong enough to take them off, but I'm trying not to look at them.
I go to the mall I used to go to last year. Again, I'm fighting back tears remembering how the last time I was there I was sending him pics of the outfits I was trying on, how I bought his birthday gift there, and then never got to give it to him.
I open my wardrobe and find the dress I bought because he liked it on me and wanted to see me in it. I'll never get to do it.
I see the little statue of my favourite museum that he gave me on the shelf, the poster of the show we watched together, the books that I was ranting to him about as I read them. Everything in my hometown reminds me of him and now back in uni it's even worse.
I keep thinking I wanna go back, I wish I didn't make the choices I made in June, I wish we could magically fix it and get back together.

is the dress the thing that stings the most right now or is it the drawings on the wall?
the drawings, mostly, he gave me them throughout the course of a year
i left the gifts and photos up for weeks too because taking them down felt like admitting it was over.
first night back in my dorm after my breakup last year was the same, every single thing still had his fingerprints on it and i just sat on the floor staring at the wall for hours. those little drawings staying up while you try not to look is so real.
I'm really sorry you feel that way.
Just remember that feelings are always temporary. you're strong and you'll move on
