How to cope when your first love leaves you

Author

she was my first love my first everything. first kiss first dates first time having sex all of it. we were together for a year and a half and we broke up because she was drained and tired while i kept begging for one more chance to make things right.
it’s been a week and two days and through a mutual friend i found out she recently posted an instagram note tagging another guy with a 💓 and he replied to her story with a “hi.” i looked into who he was and apparently they became mutuals the day after we broke up. i asked her if he was her new guy but she left me on read.
i know it’s only been 9 days but i genuinely don’t know how to move forward. i keep checking things i know are only going to hurt me and it’s already affecting my mental health and my college work. i’ve been drinking every night since the breakup just to get through it.
how do i actually move on from this? i genuinely need help right now.

when my first girlfriend moved on fast i spent weeks obsessively checking her pages and drinking until I passed out, just hunting for proof that i mattered. you are in the thick of the rawest part right now, but please try to give the bottle a break tonight because it only magnifies that agony the next morning.

that unanswered text and the social media stalking is just a daily injection of poison you are giving yourself. the only way i started getting my sanity back was blocking every single account and telling my friends not to mention her name to me at all.

nine days is so fresh and your brain is still trying to process the physical shock of losing your first everything. what is one small thing you can do for yourself tonight that gets you out of your head for even ten minutes?

my girl left me. I’ve been hurting after we had been dating for 2 years. Some advice I can give you is that time definitely helps. I would suggest not initiating any conversation with her and not look at her socials. I would encourage you to either talk with someone about everything you did together and how you’re feeling.

you need to allow yourself to feel the grief and give yourself grace .....time is the only medication for a broken heart ...trust me in due time the pain will lessen and it won't hurt as much anymore.....and I know might not feel like it right now bt you will be okay
