Am I being a fool for still wearing the ring and waiting for her with open arms, refusing to let go of the no-contact? It’s been three months now, and it’s slowly eating me alive. Every day I keep waiting, it feels like a little piece of me dies, leaving behind nothing but anguish and emptiness.
Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever smile the way I used to when I was with her. On the 29th of this month, we were supposed to celebrate our three-year anniversary. It was our tradition: we’d buy the ingredients, cook together, snack on junk food, watch romantic movies, and spend the whole day in our own little world. We’d also write letters to each other on special occasions, remembering everything we had lived through together.
Maybe I’m being foolish, but I’m still thinking about buying all the ingredients we were supposed to buy, getting the bouquet and the giant teddy bear I had planned to give her, and waiting for her all day. I’ve even been editing a video with all of our moments since our last anniversary, putting together everything I never knew how to say and everything she has meant to me.
Maybe she’ll come. Maybe she won’t.
Maybe she still remembers everything. Maybe she doesn’t even think about me anymore.
And perhaps that’s what hurts the most—not knowing.
I don’t want to meet anyone else. She was my first girlfriend, and I was her first too. I always imagined that our firsts would also become our forever. But maybe life doesn’t work that way.
Still, a part of me is standing here, with open arms, holding on to what we had and hoping that somehow, on the 29th, she’ll walk through that door.
Maybe this is my last hope.
And if she doesn’t come, I honestly don’t know what I’ll do with all the love, memories, letters, and dreams I was still saving for us.
It feels like time has been against me from the very beginning.

the hard way that waiting for someone can quietly become waiting for your own life to start again, so i stopped making plans around the possibility that my ex might come back.
if she doesn't walk through that door on the 29th, what do you think you'd want to do with that day for yourself?
still wearing the ring and keeping little plans alive because letting go felt like admitting it was really over. three months can feel like nothing when you loved someone for three years.
