I've recently (two days ago) broke up with my partner. I'm dealing with it fine, and haven't actually been that down in the dumps.
however we do work together. my work is pretty unprofessional and word has somehow got out and everybody is gossiping.
I know that this is part of the parcel, but there's been so many incidents recently at work that have been anxiety inducing, stressful and so unprofessional. and when confronted people just don't take accountability.
I was doing really well until this and now I just feel awful, stressed, jittery and embarrassed and quite alone.
my ex strategically timed it so he's away for three weeks, so I've got to deal with the fall out which is really irritated me to be honest.

i’ve learned that workplace gossip can make a breakup feel ten times bigger than it actually is. i stopped explaining myself to everyone and just kept my head down, did my work, and let people get bored when they realized they weren’t getting a reaction from me.
thank you for the advice!
ugh, i’d be so irritated too. i remember having to see my ex around people who knew way too much, and the gossip made me feel exposed when i was already trying to keep it together.
thank you so much. yeah, this exactly it. I'm trying my best to just get through the initial period without people gossiping and such. and the worst part is is that it's mostly management!
i’d be annoyed about the three weeks too, honestly. do you feel more upset about having to face everyone alone, or about feeling like he left you to deal with the fallout?
Honestly, both. I don't mind keeping to myself but it's just another person who hasn't taken responsibility. So frustrating!
