So I did the dumb thing and I texted him. I missed him and I thought it would help to hear that he missed me too. for context we ended because of external reasons. we texted a bit and he told me that he was “doing good” and “enjoying being single”. that made my year drop because that’s not how I’ve been feeling at all. but in a way it did help because I stopped holding out hope for us.

sometimes one painful conversation gave me more clarity than weeks of waiting ever did. i'm glad you don't have to keep building hope around the idea that he feels the same way, even if hearing it hurt like hell.

texting my ex hoping he'd say he missed me too, then feeling sick when he sounded perfectly fine without me. it hurts when you're still carrying the relationship in your heart and they're already enjoying life without it.
