I am so happy that my relationship with my ex is over. We’ve broken up several times and the way I can just breathe. I don’t even want a friendship with him. I’m so grateful I can choose people who actually wants to be around me and match my energy instead of draining me and leaving me to handle the situation.

i realized i could just breathe after my breakup, and that peace felt better than all the times we kept trying to force it.
protecting that peace and not confusing relief with loneliness when it showed up later. it reminded me why i left in the first place.
what was the moment that made you realize you were DONE this time instead of wanting to go back again?
He invited me to a party. It seems super fucked up to get so done over but it was a type of party that he would know that I wouldn’t want to go to if he really knew me. We had a conversation the week before where he asked me why I didn’t want to be friends with him and I told him that I have to explain myself too much around him, so yes, he doesn’t meet my needs and that’s why we broke up, but when he also expects me to guide how to care about me after 2 years, for me that’s not a friendship I need. So when he asked me out for this party.. I told him that I didn’t understand this invitation since I told him I didn’t want to be friends. I’ve helped him move in the meantime because that’s what community does in my brain, but for him he didn’t understand that I could drive a car and help him move without him assuming it was because of friendship and that assumption didn’t drive him to ask for clarification. He used it against me instead to say that I didn’t tell him I didn’t want to be friends which totally disregarded the conversation we had about it. Also, this party… I told him that it was against my values and it was heartbreaking that he would ask me to go there (because in my heart I thought he knew me: didn’t tell him this part) and he told me that everything isn’t about me and sometimes I should support him because it’s him wanting to do things, and to me that was just him always taking my non negotiable and negotiating with them and it made me block him on the spot. I don’t care for not being cared for properly and not being heard and negotiated with. That’s just not it for me.
If we didn’t have a conversation about not being friends and he had framed the party invitation by saying “I know you don’t like this kind of party, I’m going to support a friend and if you’d like to go with me just for that please come” then it would be a different story. But having to explain time on time how a person should communicate to me to actually show that they care about me, I’m done with that. One, two times a month, fine, every day?? what is that.
