Guy my ex and I been breaked up for 4 months and I have been working on myself taking care of myself basically moving on but ever since we breakup she have been breaking no contact here and there why is that what does it mean. But I see no effort of her trying get back just a text asking how I been doing etc. Is she trying keep me as an option or what?

when she reaches out, does the conversation actually go anywhere or does it always stay at small talk before she disappears again?
Just a small talk I’ll just reply dry short no questions just answer and yes it just a small conversation then she went disappear again no effort just a simple question text.
i stopped trying to figure out what every text meant. i started paying attention to actions instead, and if there was no real effort to rebuild things, i treated it like there was my answer.
my ex would pop back in with a random "how are you?" every few weeks, and every message pulled me right back in. it kept my hope alive way longer than it should've
