Why does timing always ruin everything?

my first breakup happened back in april. for a while i felt completely alone and honestly didn't expect i'd meet anyone new anytime soon.
then i messaged an old friend to wish her a happy birthday. we hadn't talked in ages but we decided to catch up and after that we just kept spending more and more time together.
one day she offered to help me finally finish it takes two. i'd started it with my ex but never got to the end and she'd had a similar experience with hers. somewhere between playing the game and talking we kissed.
since then we've only gotten closer. she's honestly incredible. she was my very first crush when i was about 13 and now she's grown into this kind funny resilient beautiful person that i admire so much.
the hardest part is the timing. i'm leaving for university in september four hours away and i'll be there for the next four years. she's already told me she probably wouldn't want to continue things once i move and i completely understand why.

it just feels so unfair. i'm falling for someone who feels so right at exactly the wrong time.
we have so much fun together. we love the same weird little hobbies like birdwatching and board games and i keep wishing we'd met under different circumstances so we could have had a real chance.
i already know i'll probably have to let her go and that hurts more than i expected.
why does the timing have to be this bad?

sometimes the hardest people to let go of are the ones where nothing went wrong.

have you both talked about what staying connected could look like after you move, or does she feel like distance would be too much no matter what

i had something similar happen after my breakup. i finally found someone who felt safe and easy, then life got in the way and i spent so long wishing the timing was different.

I had my first breakup as well in April. But I’m curious before getting into another relationship have you had time to like heal and reflect on your past relationship. Or don’t you think it’s a bit too quick to get into another relationship so soon - I mean it’s your first breakup it must have taken a toll on you.
