I wanted to ask for your opinion.
I was in a relationship for almost two years, and we broke up about two weeks ago. It was a very painful breakup because it wasn't caused by cheating, a lack of love, or constant fighting. It happened because of life circumstances.
Over the last few months, his life became much more demanding. College got harder, and during the holidays he started working two jobs. He told me he felt overwhelmed and guilty because he couldn't give me the time and attention he thought I deserved. At the same time, I became more anxious and insecure because of the distance that was growing between us.
He eventually decided to end the relationship. He told me it was one of the hardest decisions he had ever made because what we had was real and special, but he felt he wasn't being the boyfriend I deserved. I accepted his decision, even though it broke my heart.
Despite the breakup, it was calm and respectful. There were no major arguments, no betrayal, and no hatred between us. We had a very loving relationship, but we were also best friends.
When we talked about the future, I asked if there could ever be another chance for us. He told me he wouldn't close the door on that possibility. He said that if it ever happened, it would have to be at a better stage in our lives, and that he wanted to leave it in God's hands.
I also spoke to his sister. She told me he explained the situation to her exactly as he explained it to me: that he still cared about me but felt he couldn't give me what I deserved while his life was so overwhelming. She also said that, knowing her brother, she believes a reconciliation could be possible in the future.
We had talked about getting married after finishing our degrees and starting a family together. Those plans were real for both of us.
I know none of you know him personally, so I'm not asking anyone to predict the future. But based on what I've shared—a loving relationship, a respectful breakup caused mainly by life circumstances, and the fact that we both agreed to talk again after we've had time to heal—do you think reconciliation is realistically possible?

stopped asking myself whether we'd get back together and started asking whether i was becoming someone who'd be okay either way. that shift helped me more than waiting for an answer ever did.
before everything got overwhelming, was he still putting effort into the relationship even if he had less time, or had he already started pulling away emotionally?
i had a breakup that looked almost exactly like this, no cheating, no screaming, just two people who loved each other and still couldn't make life line up. we did reconnect later, but only after we had both built lives that didn't depend on the relationship.
I hope this happens to me 🥺
I think nobody can predict anything but if believe in it make you better and give you the strength to keep on it you have to believe in it harder. the time will make the rest. (sorry for my English)
Hi..sorry you are stuck like this..seems like you want to hear a yes. you are hanging on to a hope that may or may not happen in the future. start afresh i would say.
