i thought he loved me because i'd never really been loved before. i didn't know what real love looked like so i accepted things i never should have. the bad treatment the abuse the pain the mind games. he would disappear whenever i was sick or going through something difficult. he ignored me gave the bare minimum emotionally and financially and kept taking from me until i had nothing left to give. he lied to me over and over yet somehow had no problem showing care generosity and effort to everyone else.
i remember him once saying how do you know if someone really loves you? you'll know when you're in danger or going through a difficult time.
looking back now i finally understand what that meant. when i needed him most he wasn't there.

you look back now, was there a specific moment where you realized you were carrying the whole relationship alone?
Simply put love is more than just words, it's actions. I'm sorry to say this but he doesn't love you but exploits your kindness and love, because it makes him feel powerful. I wish you all the strength and I'm going through a very similar situation myself ❤️
loving someone because i was so hungry for love that i kept making excuses for the ways she hurt me. it took me a long time to admit i was accepting crumbs because i didn’t know i deserved more.
I'm really sorry you went through all that, but if it makes you feel any better, recognizing what love isn't is still progress. You deserve someone who shows up consistently, not just when it's convenient for them.
