Why does breakup loneliness feel so heavy?

Author

Outside of my relationship, I really didn't have much of a safety net. Only one real, close friend, and that person does not live close by and it is not easy for them to see me and support me in person. My family is not very emotionally receptive, and it is difficult for me to open up to them. Now, I am feeling the crushing weight of absolute loneliness, and it has been incredibly difficult. I feel trapped with this insurmountable pain and nowhere to turn to. I suppose I just need somewhere to vent the terrible loneliness of grieving without someone safe to fall back on.

I feel the exact same wether it be amonst people or in my room the silence or the happiness of other Reminds of how I have all these feeling and no one to speak too. I unfortunately had a best friend though our friendship ened this year and now my only real friend lives on a different continent. I would love to help you but I haven't figured it out on my own just. I think just talking on platforms like these can you help null the feeling a bit.

feeling that trapped kind of loneliness. what helped me was finding tiny places to let the feelings out instead of keeping everything locked inside, even if it was just writing things down or talking to one person who could listen.

when the loneliness hits the hardest, is there a certain time or moment that feels the most unbearable for you?

losing my relationship felt like losing my whole support system too. the silence after was the part that broke me the most, having so much pain and nowhere that felt safe to put it.
