Sometimes, I wonder why a situationship can feel more exciting than years of love.
Maybe because in a situationship, they give freely what they once withheld from someone who stayed for years the time, effort, attention, dates, reassurance and affection.
It hurts realizing that someone else gets the version of them you spent years asking for.
Maybe it’s not that the situationship is better. Maybe they’re simply willing to give more when there’s nothing to lose.

I miss our relationship
i used to compare myself to the new person constantly until i realized i was comparing my whole relationship to the beginning of theirs
you miss the potential not the person..
do you think it hurts more because you miss them, or because you’re seeing the version of them you always wished you could have had?
i spent years asking for basic affection and then watched my ex give someone else all the things i had begged for, and that shit HURT in a way i wasn’t ready for.
