Moving on: how i learned to heal without him

Author

for months, I finally started to get used to living without him. the days that used to be so hard, slowly went back to normal. I started to find happiness in the little things and enjoy life without constantly waiting for something from him. although sometimes, when night comes, some memories still come back. but now, those memories no longer hinder my steps. I began to understand that healing doesn't mean forgetting everything, but being able to remember without being hurt again. as time goes by, I also increasingly realize that the right person will not make us constantly explain the pain they caused. they will try to understand without making us beg to be understood. maybe, in the end, letting go is not about stopping caring, but about choosing to keep walking even though someone is no longer walking with us.

I hope this motivates you to keep moving forward, without looking back. humans sometimes make mistakes based on past decisions. consider those decisions you consider failures as the beginning of your own revival. I don't mean to give advice or feel right; I simply want you to open up new avenues of thought.

i've learned that letting go got easier when i stopped waiting for some perfect ending or apology. i kept choosing my own life, even on the days i still missed him, and slowly it started feeling like mine again. 🤍

when you look back at everything now, is there one thing you wish you had understood about letting go sooner?

when the nights were the hardest for me too. i could go a whole day feeling okay, then one memory would hit and suddenly i missed him all over again. eventually those memories stopped feeling like wounds.

hey,,i really understand you coz your point hits home, we broke up on july but we again decided to try again and after a month of trying i came to peace with the fact that i will never always be begging to be heard or understood or maybe taken seriously and i realised that the relationship was always me trying to make things right or asking for forgiveness even though i wad wronged any way my journey was hard,,,abuse may it be physical verbal or mental and lemme tell you after 5yrs i just walked coz i still care but for diff things now and on my top list is being away from him and everything abt him not out of spite, anger or hate but for peace and respect...so thanks for your comment

you're welcome. now just focus on your life in the future. What's past, let it be past. maybe the pain still remains, and it might take time to fully heal, but I'm sure that in the future there will be thousands of good things that will come to replace all the bad things you've been through. you've survived this far, so hopefully after this you can find a calmer, happier, and more self-respecting life. you deserve the peace you've been looking for.
