In all of our arguments whenever the topic of him having to do something (like if we had argued about him not checking up or making me his last priority) he would always say "sometimes I don't understand you" and it's clear he doesn't

was paying attention to whether my ex was actually trying to understand me, because i got tired of explaining the same hurt in ten different ways and still feeling like a last priority.
when he says he doesn't understand you, do you feel like he genuinely doesn't get what you need, or like he understands but doesn't want to change how he treats you?

i kept trying to explain why certain things hurt me, and hearing “i don't understand you” over and over made me feel like i was asking for too much when i really just wanted to feel considered
