I need to vent because I am deeply hurt and bewildered by my ex's betrayal. As a financially independent business owner with plenty of dating options I chose him purely out of love—despite my friends constantly warning me that I could do better and that he had little going for him. I defended him fiercely stood by him and invested immense energy into helping him grow.
Despite everything I sacrificed and the friendships I strained to protect him he cheated on me. His excuse was that he "couldn't resist" when women approached him.
I fought the entire world for this man yet he couldn’t even resist basic temptation.
While I know rationally that cheating is a reflection of his shortcomings rather than my worth the situation feels utterly humiliating. I rejected other people and gave him my absolute all not because I lacked options but because I truly wanted him. It cuts to my core knowing that I gave everything to someone who couldn't offer basic loyalty in return.

you think some of the pain is also coming from realizing how much of yourself you had to defend just to keep choosing him?
giving someone everything because i genuinely chose them, then finding out they were careless with something i treated as sacred. the cheating hurt, but the part that stayed with me was realizing how much i had defended someone who wouldn’t even protect what we had
Cut the cord, reclaim the energy you wasted, and start holding the people you allow into your life to the exact standard you hold yourself.
