After five years together—including two years of successful long-distance—my girlfriend abruptly ended our relationship over the phone just as we were about to start our life in the same city. She was my best friend my anchor and the person I planned to marry.
Everything seemed set for her to move to my city after nursing school while I applied to radiography school. However after telling me she missed several job deadlines and failed to hear back from her main prospect her tone shifted. Within days she called to say she no longer wanted to be together citing emotional disconnect personal growth and different life stages. She insisted she still loved me and that I did nothing wrong but ultimately cut all contact and blocked me everywhere.
I am completely blindsided and grieving. I feel abandoned by the person I loved most especially after five years of building a future together. While I am continuing my career and school applications I am paralyzed by the fear that she is moving on while I am left waiting.
Should I hold onto hope that we might reconnect down the line after we both grow or do I need to face reality and accept that she is gone forever?

We even hooked up a few times back then, and it was the best physical connection I ever had. I let him go because every time we hooked up things got awkward between us. I didn't know how he felt about me and he didn't know that I was secretly in love with him.
We were made for each other, same goals, same hobbies, same interests and lifestyle, but not same transparency and loyalty.
I mean, pretty much same? We just didn’t align or have the same values when it came to the “not-in-a-relationship-but-will-be-very-soon” so we never really dated or broke up but my trust was betrayed while we were RIGHT there.
Another man got to her first.
I think it’s best if yall stay apart. if she left you now why won’t she later on.
