When he broke up with me, he said he doesnt love me in that way anymore. That broke me so much, especially when I still loved and cared for him. When I broke no contact to get answers, he said it was because we had different beliefs(non religious and religious), therefore different paths in life. He still loved me as a person, but not as a romantic partner.

hearing "i love you as a person, but not romantically" is such a specific kind of gut punch. i remember standing in my kitchen when my ex said almost those exact words to me after three years together, and it felt like my entire world just caved in. it makes you feel like you're being handed a consolation prize for a relationship you gave your whole heart to.
