How do you move on after a 13-year relationship ends?

Author

Three days ago my boyfriend of nearly 13 years ended our relationship right before my 30th birthday leaving me completely blindsided. He claims our connection shifted into a platonic "best friend" love rather than a romantic one. My feelings for him haven't changed at all and losing my lifetime anchor has left me in unimaginable pain.
He seems totally fine and refuses to try fixing things while I am left humiliated begging for another chance and terrified of being alone. To make matters worse we live together and share pets. I can't eat or sleep and I have never felt this level of anguish in my entire adult life. How does anyone survive losing a 13-year relationship?

It doesn’t go away, you just learn to live with it as time goes on. It’s hard to erase a memory when memories are not meant to be deleted. I’m going through a heart break and it’s been 2 months, it’s been on and off and yesterday all of a sudden I cried the whole day.

I was recovering from a broken back when I found out she was cheating. I tried to ask for couples therapy or talk about things leading up to me catching her, but she had no interest in anything and kept telling me not to worry about her "friend." I'm 3 months no contact.

Yes. The pain is awful, and I’m so sorry you’re going through it.
It will change, it won’t be like this forever.
