Why can't i let go? the pain of being replaced

This is slowly killing me.
I know he doesn't want me anymore, I know he replaced me, I know he didn't value me, and I know he won't come back.
But I can't accept it, deep down I still think he'll want something with me.
I keep thinking he'll regret it and come back.
And when he stops following me, I feel really bad because it seems like that idea I had is being blown away more and more each time.
Should I text him? I want to hear from him that he doesn't want anything to do with me so I can believe it, and I want him to block me right after.
This is affecting every aspect of my life.

i used to want that final brutal closure conversation too, but messaging him usually just gives them another chance to be cold and hurt you even more. when i couldn't stop holding onto hope, i had to block him myself first just to take my control back and stop checking his status every five minutes.

do you have a close friend or someone in your life who can hold your phone for you tonight so you don't send that text while the urge is this strong

your heart refuses to accept it. i spent months staring at my phone waiting for him to regret leaving, and every time he unfollowed another page or removed a tag, it felt like getting dumped all over again. please be gentle with yourself right now because that gap between what you know and what you feel is complete torture

I'm in the same place but Honestly, there's no way around it; if I continued to watch him living his life without me having a part in it, I was going to become more and more depressed. So I decided to block him once and for all, not because I stopped loving him, but because I couldn't bear to see him with someone else. Either way, it's going to hurt, but we have to choose the pain that will affect us the least and that will pass the fastest. We will achieve our peace.
