I just realized that my relationship has always been an overwhelming initial passion followed by a strategic retreat due to a sheer inability to sustain a mature romantic relationship. And I don't really know how to deal with that.

i spent two years wrapped up in a guy who came in like a tidal wave with all this intense passion, but as soon as real life hit and things required actual maturity, he completely checked out. it leaves you feeling so crazy because there wasn't even a big fight to point to, just a quiet ghosting of the intimacy you thought you had
YES OMG
i was writing down the difference between intensity and actual consistency. high passion feels amazing in the moment, but if someone lacks the capability to build a real foundation, you end up living on crumbs the second they retreat.
Did you try DBT.
Sorry, but English isn't my first language. What does that mean? :P
you just have this realization after a specific moment, or was it a gradual pattern you started noticing over time?
I think it was only after the breakup that I stopped to think that I hadn't even been asked to be his girlfriend; I was just being manipulated by him.
