doing this kind of work after my breakup and honestly, some of the connections i made between childhood and how i loved people hit HARD. i started seeing why i kept looking for reassurance from partners who made me feel unsure of myself.
yes! I am seeing this too. I wish I was more confident and able to abide by my boundaries more. It definitely would've prevented some heartbreak. But this relationship taught me these MUCH needed lessons.
i love that you're doing this for yourself. i used to think being ready for a new relationship meant finding the right person, but learning to speak up about my needs and stop accepting crumbs changed so much for me.
yes! I am actively learning this as well. I am also learning that although my communication was good, it can improve. Also recognizing who I am communicating with is essential -- if he has been communicated to once or twice already. Then knowing when to establish a healthy boundary to cut off the relationship is crucial. I am breaking the belief that I have to keep working at it no matter what; but that's at the cost of me too. I am looking back and am like "dang, I really let myself get treated that way." Pretty eye-opening stuff!
i think this kind of homework can bring up some unexpected stuff. have you noticed any patterns in your relationships that now make more sense when you look at your childhood?
tons 🫪 it has been very revealing
