two weeks out from my first major breakup after a two-year relationship. Logically I know the breakup was the right decision due to real incompatibilities and I don't want to get back together. However losing my ex has resurfaced a long-standing struggle I have with loneliness and a need for constant external validation.
As a commuter student living at home my days are now much quieter. My ex was my default companion and without that daily affection and constant connection quiet weekends and study days feel empty and boring. I don't want to rush into a new relationship or overschedule my life just to distract myself. I want to build a healthier mindset where my emotional well-being doesn't depend so heavily on having a romantic partner or non-stop excitement.
How did you shift your relationship with loneliness downtime and attachment? What mindset helped you feel content with a quieter season of life without feeling like your life was unfulfilling?

how strange the quiet felt after my first serious relationship ended. even when i knew the breakup was right, i missed having someone to tell every little thing to, and suddenly my own company felt so unfamiliar.
was letting boring days just be boring sometimes, without treating them like proof that something was missing from my life. i started doing little things because i enjoyed them, even when nobody else was there to share them.
when you have a quiet weekend now, is it the loneliness of not having your person around that hurts most, or do you start feeling like your life is less exciting without someone giving you that attention?
