70 days of no contact: learning to let go

Author

It's been around 70 days of no contact during which I didn't initiate anything. In the meantime, I started reading and watching videos about attachment styles and learned more about myself and her as well.

I think she has an avoidant attachment style, while I have an anxious attachment style, and I guess that's what made us incompatible.

For the last 7 months (excluding the no-contact period), I've been going through a lot. But you know the funny part? Most YouTube videos sell you hope, saying things like, "Within 6 weeks, your ex or partner will reach out."

Initially, it gave me anxiety. I kept wondering why she hadn't come back even after so much time. But with time, I realised that it was never really about her. It was all about me, understanding myself, feeling my real self, and accepting that this is life.

Life is a journey where you keep moving forward, and along the way, you'll meet strangers who might make you feel good, make you feel special, and become a part of your story. But it's your job to stay connected to reality and understand that this is your journey, and you're the only person who's going to travel it with yourself. So, don't get too attached to anything.

Today, I can say that I'm doing better. Mentally, I'm 90% better than I was two months ago. Yeah, of course, there are times when I miss her, but that's what makes me human, right? It's okay. The difference is that now, there are ten other things in my life besides her and her memories. And that's okay, too.

At the end, I'd just say that healing isn't some magical moment when you forget everything and become numb. It's the realisation that it's over, that life goes on, and that you still have a life to focus on. You have responsibilities towards yourself and your family, and it's time to focus on becoming a better version of yourself.

Sorry for making you go through this lengthy post. But if you're at a point in life where everything feels like hell, just trust me, with time and the right thought process, things will get better.

Sending lots of love and good vibes. ❤️

you started feeling better, was there a particular moment that changed things for you, or did you slowly realise she wasn't the centre of your life anymore

the part about being 90% better really hit me. i've learned that missing someone doesn't mean i've gone backwards, and i stopped treating every sad day like proof that i wasn't healing.

spending so much time watching videos that promised my ex would come back, and every day she didn't felt like another rejection. honestly, the day i stopped waiting for a sign from her and started noticing the little things in my own life again was when i finally felt some peace.

Tthat’s really lovely and just what I needed to hear. I’ve had this anxiety that I will miss him and the best parts of our life and love forever. My ex and I have had regular contact since we separated and a little part of me hoped we could work through the issues and find our way back to each other. I haven’t been able to meet anyone else, it’s like my body is loyal ti him even after so long apart. The hope is hard to let go of. I’m hoping this no contact period will help me let go.

The healing begins when you accept that maybe that would never work and you wish them well and accept that this is life and it happens.
