Why do i keep dreaming about my ex coming back?

those reconciliation dreams hit like a freight train and ruin your whole morning. i woke up crying last month after dreaming my ex showed up at my door with coffee, and it felt so real that my chest hurt for hours afterward. your subconscious is still doing cleanup work, so please don't beat yourself up for the setback.

letting those dreams derail my whole day was writing down what happened right when i woke up, just to get it out of my head, and then splashing freezing cold water on my face to force myself back into reality.
