The story of us began in 2020 during a Tinder match during Covid-19. Him and I hung out twice, always with his friend(s) never one on one. I got ghosted shortly after the second hang. I was annoyed but I chalked it up to “we never got emotionally deep and this is a pandemic.” Fast forward to five years later, we rematched once again on the same dating app. 🔥
We were chatting on the app for maybe a month before officially moving it to texting. Our first date would shortly follow as well. We instantly connected and acknowledging we met years ago and remembered one another. After that first date we were inseparable. I shortly met his family 3 weeks in. I began being included around his hobbies and friends. The reassurance of our future and growing connection kept coming.
I lost a dear and good friend one month ago. He was there the moment I got the devastating news and began comforting me. Little did I know this would be the end of us very soon…
The last time I saw him was the morning I woke up two days later as we spent the night together. Everything was fine and sad understanding my loss. Fast forward to it leading to me getting ghosted the following week…
The irony of someone telling me “I want to be there for your highest of highs and lowest of lows” and instantly ghosting the moment something low occurs in my life. 😂 Who would’ve known that I would’ve gotten ghosted after losing a dear and good friend. Why have me meet your family and friends if this was the outcome? Great to know I’m a certified clown. 🤡
Maybe the reason for us reconnecting was to teach me never give another chance to someone who ghosts twice. I don’t even know what to say or think. I know I showed up as myself and if this was happening to him, I’d support him and not think of ghosting. Not to mention he was in the process of leaving his job he was at for a decade and starting a new one right around the corner. Maybe people can’t handle change or something real?

you find yourself missing him most, or are you struggling more with how he could promise to be there for you and then disappear like that?
I would say I’m struggling with missing him. I’m also struggling with how he promised to be there and disappeared.
honestly, i would be hurt too, especially after meeting his family and feeling like you were building something real.
the timing of this is just cruel. i had someone promise they’d be there for me, then disappear the second life got hard, and i remember feeling so stupid for believing their words. you weren’t a clown for giving him a chance.
