A breakup is tough. Very tough. It's just as difficult as losing someone to death. Well why?
You are grieving not just one thing.
You are grieving:
The future promised
The relationship you both had
The past events/love
The person
The period of time
You can even be grieving the relationship with their family, pets, friends. Grieving the objects, pictures, or anything that holds memories.
It's understable you feel that way. It's understandable that everyone's advice is difficult to follow.
It's difficult to move on.
and that's okay.
Always follow your heart, just make sure to also listen to your mind. And no, you don't have to follow what other people say. You dictate how your life plays out. Just be prepared for the consequences and NEVER hope for an outcome.
Real and understanding supporters here would give you proper advice but also comfort you if you ever not follow it.
Remember only you have control. Move on, break no contact, reconnect, whatever it may be. It's up to you, and whatever you choose to do, you have to accept what comes after.
Im saying this because I've seen people not confident in themselves enough. Or they believe that they HAVE to follow the advice and they have no choice.

removing the deadline i set for my own healing. blocking out all the advice and letting myself just feel broken for as long as it took was the first step toward actually feeling like a real person again.
when my ex and i split, losing his dog and his mom felt like a second breakup entirely, and people kept telling me to just focus on myself when i couldn't even eat. thank you for putting into words how heavy and multi-layered this loss actually is
what was the specific thing or memory that made you realize you had to start trusting your own gut over everyone else's opinions
Probably when we first broke up and everyone told me to just move on. Well? I realized I'll do what I want to do. Follow my heart. Take the risk than the safe path. So yes I broke no contact, and he did start to court me again until he fully dumped me in the end. Did I regret anything? No. I would do the same thing over again, even if it was labelled as "the wrong decision"
Is there really a wrong decision in this world? When every decision leads you to a path where you learn and grow.
