My long-distance ex and I broke up after eight months. We used to meet up monthly and plan a future together but life stressors hit us both hard recently. He has a pattern of panicking and breaking up over distance only to immediately regret it. However after recently calling me his "healing angel" he sent a long text ending things saying the distance is draining him and he needs to focus on his mental health and family.
Oddly he still wants us to be close friends talk regularly and potentially attend the same college. I've already applied to my dream program in the new city we originally planned to move to together—a move I still want for my own fresh start. Will he reach out to rekindle like he usually does and should I still go through with moving to that city on my own?

did he give you any clear reason why he suddenly wants to stay close and potentially share a college campus after walking away
are you still planning to live in that same city even if he completely cuts contact and goes through with the breakup?
getting the panic discard after he literally called you his healing angel is such a cruel mindfuck. i had an ex who pulled that exact same stunt every single time life got hard, and playing the waiting game while he figures out his mental health is an absolute trap
