Why do i feel the urge to break no contact with my ex?

Author

anytime I'm back home I have an urge to break no contact. for context I live 2 minutes away from my ex because I moved to be near him after being long distance. I learned some information about his mom basically responding to us agreeing to work it out after he almost broke up with me. he mentioned engagement with me and two days later he tried to break up. when he got home after we agreed to work it out his mom said I was manipulating him and " if he can't afford a ring how can he afford kids". apparently his family agreed for us to break up and I'm pissed off because he is 28 years old.. his whole family was so kind to me and I've been in so much shock. his family and I would eat dinner together, we spent Christmas together, his mom made a guest room for me, she would get me thoughtful gifts from her trips. I'm just pissed off because I love him so much and his family shouldn't get in the way of that. Also for context he was homeschooled from elementary until college and I was his longest most serious relationship.

it makes sense that you're angry. every time i wanted to break no contact, i was usually chasing the version of my ex who fought for us, not the one who let me go.

do you feel like he actually wanted to work things out and changed his mind after talking to his family, or had he already checked out before that conversation?

i had an ex whose family treated me like one of their own, then after the breakup it felt like i lost ALL of them at once. that grief caught me completely off guard.
