I am going through it now myself. It has been so hard, I kept breaking no contact because of the trauma bond. I realized that no matter how many times I tried to talk to him or explain things he was never going to try to understand and everything was always going to be my fault. He did some heinous shit to me during and after we broke up like sleeping with my friends and talking to me horribly and playing with my emotions. I have had to go complete no contact with him for my own sanity. He is like a drug for me, like heroin I just needed a bit of him, but when I did I felt even worse after the fact. I understand what you are going through and it has been one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.
i stopping myself from chasing answers about whether they were a narcissist and paying attention to how i felt around them instead. if you can, i really hope you're talking to someone outside of here too. you don't have to carry this by yourself.
yeah that’s so true, my body has been on high alert and is adjusting from that. and i’ve been talking to my friends and getting in with a therapist. thank you
i came out of an emotionally abusive relationship too, and i spent months wondering if i was just "too sensitive." it took me a long time to see that constantly questioning myself wasn't normal.
i'm really sorry you're dealing with this. can i ask what happened that makes you feel it was emotionally abusive? was there one moment that made everything finally click for you?
thank you. and I think mainly processing it with my friends and them telling me it was and then starting to realize it for myself but I still have a hard time accepting it. mainly he was controlling, he would ignore me or give me the silent treatment if i didn’t do what he wanted, when we would get into an argument- he would yell and curse at me and put me down, the worst it got to was once he hit his door during an argument when i was standing next to him and he also threw his phone across the room. he would and still blames my behavior and whatever I did wrong to justify him doing those things.
Sometimes I can be a narcissist. If you are my ex, I would say, "I'm sorry for doing that." I already sent you a long message expressing how guilty I am for all the wrongdoings I have done to you. I make mistakes, and if you give me another chance, I won't waste it.
the fact that you’re wondering honestly tells me that you were. try writing all the bad stuff they did. and remember when you are abused you are told you’re the bad guy based on your reactions to abuse. fellow sufferer who is also still very confused. try to be honest to yourself don’t sugarcoat anything. ask a friend vent about situations to them. you’ll find out you are not crazy.
yeah that’s what i’ve been doing and when I start to miss them or think about the good times I have to remind myself it was really really bad too. thank you for this
